Prompt: a picture on a key
The other day..
“Where’s my pancakes with syrup?” I demanded, as I descended the stairs and headed for the kitchen table.
It was Sunday and my grandmother always made pancakes on a Sunday and on the table I could see a couple of plates with dollop of syrup and no pancakes.
“Who ate the pancakes?” I yelled angrily, as my grandmother retreated into her bedroom, fearful of yet another of my tempers.
I was sure that Abe had eaten the last one. Someone had given Abe my pancake. They always favoured Abe. He got whatever he asked for.
When my grandmother returned to the room, I quietly, but resolutely, followed her and surreptitiously knocked her seat over. She .. , so that when she went to sit down the seat moved and she fell awkwardly. I couldn’t stop giggling but then soon realised, when she couldn’t get up that I had gone too far…
The rest of the day I moped around, scared to show my face…
So I resolved that I would need to do something to redeem their affection, and something genuine.
After moping around, I remembered that my grandmother had a passion for …
And this was my sudden change. It seemed to be the key that opened my emotions. That gave me a different light..
I didn’t know what to do but all I could think of is writing her a poem and making it as sorrowful and poignant as I could so that she might see that I was truly sorry.
