- How does our use of language reflect our national identity?: Be clear about what we could mean with regards to “national” identity. Please read this typical opinion piece, by Victoria’s former shadow attorney general, John Pesutto , “hearts and hands” opinion piece published around Australia Day. This is a well written opinion piece with some excellent examples. (Also links with national identity.)
- Re: “is anything taboo these days?”: Please read this Editorial on Fraser Anning and the nazi salutes at the public rally in St Kilda.
- Also links with exclusive language examples. With the examples, and to discuss “taboo” language, hone in on public reactions.
