The Longest Memory and The 7 Stages of Grieving

$50.00

In The Longest Memory and The 7 Stages of Grieving skin colour shapes a person’s social and cultural status in society and their relative position of power.  A darker skin colour leads to a position of disadvantage: the African slaves and the Indigenous peoples are treated in dehumanising ways. The African slave is shackled and treated as an economic commodity. The Aboriginals are treated as cultural and historical relics (icons); their offspring need to be (forcibly) assimilated into mainstream society.

This 68-page Resource Package includes: a thematic analysis of the main themes, characters and narrative devices in each text; 8 detailed essay plans breaking down the key areas of comparison. It also includes background explanations for  The 7 Stages of Grieving and tips for “book pair” essays.
