Write a paragraph supporting the installation of CCTV cameras
It is imperative that Council officers install CCTV cameras at all major intersections in the local shire. Despite the cost, the CCTV cameras are the best method of keeping citizens safe. They reduce crime and physical assaults. They are also instrumental in snaring criminals. According to Inspector Vincent de Ritt, the CCTV cameras are a critical “evidence gathering tool” and are proving to be a foolproof way of catching criminals. This was certainly the case in Jemima Smith’s assault. If not for the cameras installed at the local primary school, the kidnapper would never have been identified and he would be still stalking the streets. Hopefully, criminals will become wary and crime will decrease as they realise that they will not commit crimes with impunity.

It is crucial that the Council officers refrain from installing CCTV cameras at every corner because they are prohibitively expensive. Their cost is not justified by the risks. There are other ways to police our streets that are less intrusive. CCTV cameras are fuelling fears. They are intrusive surveillance tools and they are making us complacent about the safety of our neighbourhoods.
