Summary notes for Whose Reality

See Revision Notes 2015 with most useful examples/essays/key statements from Death of a Salesman

Think about an interesting beginning to suit a variety of prompts.

Notes for J.M.Coeztee and Foe and some parallels.

Think about your best notes and information from Death of a Salesman or Spies or Wag the Dog. And of course, some notes from The Lot, Michael Leunig.

Stories about the Loman Brand.

Think about your best parallel stories.

See a variety of soldier stories to suit the characters, issues and themes /points in all main texts: (the fabrication of war; the invincible hero; Uncle Peter and the salesman).
Also some recent parallels.

  • constructed realities ; the gatekeepers of power
  • different perspectives : first hand and mediated second-hand
  • altered realities: exposure to unrealistic conditions and heightened stress

A heavy-handed construction of reality: North Korea plus one writer’s response and rejection: (Parallel with Biff)

Also some big ideas/philosophical comments.

See sample Youth Leader’s Format. (Works well with this context.)

See Sample Plan/Format for expository/ hybrid/ persona-style: Hybrid essay

If using a persona, think about how you can personalise the context (or customise some “personal” stories); make them your own.

See Big picture categories and concepts for essays

A creative version of Willy Loman: the insurance representative.

It is so important to master the ideas, and practice essay plans.

Notes for A Streetcar Named Desire

Let this student’s comment be a warning: “I was upset with how i went for english because i misread the context prompt and wrote a different essay. But i got a raw 36 in the end!!”
