Arguments and Persuasive Language: opinion texts
Our 2020 publication, Arguments and Persuasive Language: analysing and presenting opinion-based texts unlocks the key to an A+ essay. Key factors include: a sharp focus on the author’s viewpoints, an ability to zoom in on the argument and persuasive techniques that underpin these viewpoints (and the author’s intentions) and an analysis of the persuasive word choices (and the author’s positioning strategies) that also underpin these argument techniques. Students will also improve their marks if they can sharply, and smartly, compare authors’ viewpoints. This workbook also includes a chapter that helps students write and present their own opinion-based texts and statement of intention.
