Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

$45.00

Achebe’s intent was to examine the African experience from the inside, without unduly romanticising Africa’s past. While critical of the hypocritical savagery and might of British colonial rule, Achebe also confronts the cracks within his own culture that accelerate its disintegration.

This 43-page Resource Package includes an overview of the themes and characters, an analysis of Achebe’s writing style and message, a table comparison of quotes, and 10 essays and extended essay plans to help with revision for exams.

Description

Achebe’s story about a fierce warrior overtaken by the overwhelming might of the colonial invaders takes place between 1860 and 1890.  In his treatise, “The Novelist as Teacher”,  Achebe remarks, “I would be quite satisfied if my novels did no more than teach my readers that their past – with all its imperfections – was not one long night of savagery from which the first Europeans acting on God’s behalf delivered them”.

This 43-page Resource Package includes an overview of the themes and characters, an analysis of Achebe’s writing style and message, a table comparison of quotes, and 10 essays and extended essay plans.
