Dear Students (and Parents)
Well done with your work during this term. I have summarised below what we have been working on, and we will consolidate this weekend. Please continue with our good work.
Persuasive writing:
- Articles and arguments: We have been going over very difficult articles/arguments / formal writing pieces to examine sophisticated writing styles (as a basis for our own).
- We have been learning to write in a more polished way as a reflection of our very sensible, and well-reasoned arguments. (We have been going through the tasks in Better Essays/Persuasive Techniques.)
- We have been writing quick 5 minute persuasive-TEEL-style paragraphs so that we can write quickly and effectively
Creative writing
Please go through the variety of models (especially the last 3) that I love because they work very well. Please use these as the basis for a very deeply personal and meaningful response
Comprehension: all the articles and stories we have enjoyed are also excellent practice for advanced comprehension. Pls also see the General Achievement Test GAT on VCA’s website plus answers. Please see: http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Pages/vce/exams/gat/gat.aspx (General Achievement Test Archives). It is an excellent resource and worth doing some of the comprehension. Very difficult!
