To do well in Year 12, students need to write clearly, and succinctly, show a sound understanding of key ideas and concepts and use metalanguage in a smart and efficient way.
Saturdays: 9.45-10.45: 11 am – 12 pm; (in person at 213 Dorking Road, Box Hill North)
Sundays: 10-11 am; (in person 37 Kerr Street, Blackburn); 1.15 – 2.15 pm (37 Kerr Street Blackburn)
Mondays: 7.15 – 8.15 pm (in person, 213 Dorking Road Box Hill North)
In each class, we will read a selection of articles, poems and textual excerpts.
Exercises and tasks to complete for our classes: Analytical Vocab Builder: Argument-related Metalanguage and the Blue Reader: Excerpts, Articles for text response and craft of writing
We will analyse literary and poetic techniques, syntax, discourse features and context and purpose.
We will work on :

- quality of written expression and ideas; essay structure and metalanguage/grammatical rigour
- argument analysis and a variety of text types and key ideas (1 article each week)
- key ideas and metalanguage (1 poem and textual excerpts )
I have prepared some insightful and well-structured VCE Preparation Booklets which will enable us to maximise our time and work efficiently. To improve, students need to read well-written formal pieces, and excerpts of novels and poems.
We will do a lot of quick writing tasks in the class to improve fluency, clarity and precision.
