To do well in Year 12, students need to write clearly, and succinctly, show a sound understanding of key ideas and concepts and use metalanguage in a smart and efficient way.
I hold VCE Preparation Classes on Saturdays (in person at 213 Dorking Road, Box Hill North): 10 am; 2 pm and 3.30 pm.
In each class, we will read a selection of articles, poems and textual excerpts.
We will analyse literary and poetic techniques, discourse features and context and purpose.
We will work on :
- quality of written expression and ideas; essay structure and metalanguage/grammatical rigour
- argument analysis and a variety of text types and key ideas (1 article each week)
- key ideas and metalanguage (1 poem and textual excerpts )
I have prepared some insightful and well-structured VCE Preparation Booklets which will enable us to maximise our time and work efficiently. To improve, students need to read well-written formal pieces, and excerpts of novels and poems.
We will do a lot of quick writing tasks in the class to improve fluency, clarity and precision.
