Ideal for those who want to rapidly improve their English skills and gain the best possible VCE foundation.
The Summer Reading and Writing Workshop covers:
- texts: The Hate Race by Maxine Beneba Clarke and the English Works Short Classics Anthology;
- targeted essay writing – creative and text response plans/structure/essays based on the Hate Race and the short stories in the anthology.
- vocab building (The English Works Vocab Builder and the texts); write with polish
- written expression and grammar (10 rules of grammar); an awareness of some rules help you minimise errors and write more clearly
- you will learn to use polished expression; tune into an author’s story-telling devices, and use them in your own creative pieces and to improve your essays.
In person at Blackburn (or via zoom); Times TBA with parents.
Small group; $45 per session (1.5 hour).
