Extension Classes Sunday 2 September

Creative task: Task 1: Read Neighbours

Write two paragraphs based on a description of a neighbour. Describe the neighbours at the beginning and the barriers that exist between them. There is a certain suspicion and wariness that exists as the neighbours do not communicate and associated with each other. After tree falls in the backyard, many of the neighbours come together and try to help each other.

  • Sojourners – temporary stay;  Docile quiet and easily handled; Cobalt – blue – greenish blue pigment
  • Dusk – dark evening; Moult – shed hair
  • Gloomy, dark, foggy. – alliteration.. bleak biting; Vermillion sunset – red pigment .. sunsets

Argumentative Essay: task 2: Playing online games.

  1. Write one paragraph supporting the use of online technologies in the classroom.

(It boosts learning/ enhances learning/ should be incorporated into the classroom; has academic advantages; good for cognitive skills (thinking skills);Minecraft helps problem-solving skills and comprehension; leads to benefits; evidence: classroom examples and the expert/professor)

Or

  1. Write one paragraph condemning the use of online technologies in the classroom.

(inhibits creativity; can lead to distractions; and affects learning outcomes)

Positives – numerous advantages – positive case study

Negative example –  disruptive in the classroom ; distracts students
