• * identify the author’s viewpoints;
• * recognise the features of their argument which underpin these viewpoints;
• * zoom in on words with a persuasive agenda (which also underpin the argument/viewpoints);
• * write analytically precise sentences;
• * quote words with an analytical “story”; and
• * write sharp and smart paragraphs.
• It is critical that you have the confidence to be selective; do not get lost in an overblown and convoluted word-level analysis.
