Description
While Jane Harrison’s first play Stolen focuses on traumatic separation and its aftermath and the loss of family and cultural identities, Rainbow’s End deals with the “unsung” heroes living on The Flats in Shepparton in the 1950s. The families battle floods, sub-standard living conditions and racist policies. Harrison pays particular tribute to the women, who “fought the good fight in their daily struggles to keep their families together, house, feed, cloth, educate and, above all, love and protect their children”.
