Lesson 1 & 2

An overview of VCAA pieces : typical recurring techniques in past exam papers

  • Evidence:  personal; professional observations; experience; real-life family; parental examples; case studies; imaginary scenarios
  • Comparisons; appeals
  • Depictions of stakeholder: figurative; emotive; colloquial language and tone
  • Problem (fear; anger; anxiety); solution (relief; hope; inspiration)
  • Range of VCAA Exams (including the ones below)
  • The task: How do the authors use argument, written and visual features to encourage readers to share their points of view. Your piece must have a sharp focus on viewpoints
