People stories, Exercise 7, p. 26

People stories, Exercise 7, p. 26

Examine the people stories. Then identify a clear persuasive point of view. Write your topic sentence.

Topic Sentence:

Story: Tina uses Julie’s story to prove that there young people are dying because they cannot have access to lung transplants.

Topic sentence: It is imperative that the government provides more efficient access to life-saving surgery, especially for critically ill young patients.

(Evidence: there are a lot of families who are suffering and young people like Julie who are dying because they do not have access to important health facilities.)

Do we need station guards?, p. 26

Story: Mr Briar’s son was brutally bashed on the train station for no reason.

Topic sentence: The government must provide station guards at train stations to ensure the safety of all commuters. (to stop brutal actions; to minimise the senseless brutality of roving thugs.)
