Homework page, Sunday 3.15

Sunday 12th October, 3.15 pm: A series of homework tasks

Task 1:

Using our examples and case studies, analyse the prompt: Belonging to a group is essential to a person’s identity.

Topic Sentence:  It is important to find a way to belong and to contribute to society in a purposeful way.

Often people find themselves on the margins of society and this can have a devastating impact upon their sense of self and their confidence. They quickly become despondent and demoralised.  Many need to find a way to reconnect – sometimes in obvious and sometimes is less obvious and more artistic and creative ways.

  • Analyse the different experiences of the two youths (Arie Eddy and Nick Jones): contrast their experiences with regards to work and training
  • Analyse Judy Sharp’s response to her son’s disability; how they tried to find a purpose and a different way to contribute to society; what was the doctor’s comments? What did this reveal about social attitudes towards disabilities.
  • Go through our examples, and see if you can discuss another case study.
