‘Jenny’s sessions made all the difference to my study in VCE English. Following her essay plans in the (language analysis) workbooks, changed the way I approach and fine tune my essays to reach a high standard. Focussing on key strategies and word implications helped me write impressive essays, contributing to my perfect score.” (Catherine Dinh, (50), 2013, Sacred Heart Girls College)
“Following Jenny’s tips and advice in the Language Analysis essay-writing workbook really helped me make my analysis precise and insightful. I perfected my analytical vocabulary and the focus on structure was a key to a high scoring response. The proof is in the chancellor’s pudding at Melbourne Uni.” Michael Mao Class of 2014 (50 in English)
“Working with Jenny throughout this year has both enhanced my skills and boosted my confidence in English. Her resources played an important part in my VCE success.” (Mimi, (47), 2014, Ruyton Girls College)
“Using the English Works language analysis workbook in Year 11 at school really helped me turn the corner. Building on these skills I went from averaging C’s and D’s in my essay-writing during Year 11, to an A+ student in Year 12. I even topped English at Blackburn High School!” (Nathan, 2014, (42) Blackburn High School)
“I began using Jenny’s (English Works’) resources in Year 10. The resources immediately improved my vocabulary and my ability to produce quality expository pieces – thus providing me with a strong foundation to transition seamlessly into Year 12 English. The books introduced me to metalanguage and analysis techniques in a very coherent and accessible format. I would wholeheartedly recommend Jenny’s resources for students aiming for an A+ grade in Year 12.” Brendan L. (44) (2014, John Monash: Award for Excellence in English)
“’I started from rock bottom with my English and very low on confidence. But but through the invaluable resources and useful tips especially in the Language Analysis essay-writing guide I managed to fix my awkward expression and to clarify my ideas in a short period. Pleasantly surprised with the results. (Sarah Youn (42) Balwyn High School, 2014)
“Same here. As one who migrated to Australia 5 years ago, my English skills were not up to par with current levels. Using Jenny’s workbooks and notes really helped to give me a good direction. Despite average SACs I nailed the exam and hence a very respectable mark for English.” (Bryan Terliatan, (39), Balwyn High School, 2014.)
Hey Jenny,
Yeah I managed to get a great GAMSAT score:
Section 1 (Humanities): 61 – (80th percentile)
Section 2 (Essays): 59 – (70th percentile)
Section 3 (Science): 84 – (99.something percentile)
Overall: 72 (~98th percentile)
So with that I will definitely be able to apply to medicine, my first preference is going to be Melbourne Uni.
Thank you so much for your help, I would not have been able to do anywhere near as well as I did without you. Probably would have failed the essays section without your help. Again thank you so much!! Regards, Tom
