Please work through the text-based exercises and send me some analytical sentences!

Text 1: Medea 

Text 2: I’m not Scared

Text 3: Growing Up Asian

Text 4: 12 Angry Men

Text 5: Animal Farm

Text 6: Lord of the Flies 

Analyse a Passage from a Text

  1. Identify the narrator’s/author’s main points.  
  2. What is the protagonist’s/character’s views?   Who or what are they criticising and why?.  Referring to at least three quotes, explain their purpose and their link to the character’s views.  
  3. Identify some narrative techniques (write 3 – 5 sentences).  
    1. What is the character’s tone and attitude?
    2. Does the author use symbols; metaphors; similes; personification; allusions; juxtapositions; comparisons; alliteration?
    3. What narrative elements are evident?   – dialogue, monologue, discussion, narrative recounts and stories/anecdotes.  
  4. Learn four new expressions (words and phrases).   Write these phrases in your own sentence.
